Editorial Policy

Every site has a line it won’t cross. This page is ours, written down. If you want to know why you can trust what you read on ItsReleased โ€” what we cover, how we check it, and where the money does (and doesn’t) come from โ€” it’s all here.

The reading experience follows the same rule: no pop-ups, no fluff โ€” just the honest Aussie verdict. No display ads, no autoplay, no paywall and no pop-up traps; every launch, guide and tool on this site is free to read. The full promise is written out on our How We Verify page.

What earns a place on ItsReleased

We cover genuine new product launches with real relevance for Australian buyers. That’s a narrower beat than it sounds: plenty of “new” products are rebadges, regional variants with a fresh coat of paint, or launches that will never reach Australian shelves. A topic earns coverage only if it clears three bars โ€” it answers a question buyers are actually asking, it fills a gap in what’s already out there, and it’s grounded in genuine research. If it can’t clear all three, it doesn’t get published.

One beat, on purpose

ItsReleased covers one beat: new appliances, gadgets and consumer tech that Australians can actually buy. Staying inside that beat is a deliberate guardrail, not a limitation we apologise for โ€” depth in one area is worth more to readers than shallow coverage of everything.

So there are things you will not find here, however much traffic they might bring: no grocery coverage, no voucher or coupon roundups, no finance, insurance, telco or energy comparison, and no services marketplaces. If it isn’t a physical product launching in Australia, it isn’t our story. Price drops and deals appear only as part of covering the products themselves โ€” never as a deals feed in their own right.

If that scope ever changes, this page changes first: any widening of what we cover will be written here before it appears anywhere else on the site.

Research, in practice

Here’s what happens before a single word is written:

  • Existence first. We confirm the product genuinely exists and has been announced or released. No rumours presented as launches, no placeholder pages.
  • Specs against the source. Technical details are checked against the manufacturer’s official information โ€” not a retailer’s marketing copy.
  • Australian prices, plural. We collect prices from two to four reputable Australian retailers before publishing. One source is never enough, and an unverified figure is never presented as fact.
  • Dates pinned down. Announcement and availability dates are verified. Where an Australian date genuinely isn’t confirmed, we say so instead of guessing.

The order matters: we research first and write second, never the other way around. And we never invent products, prices, specifications, reviews or release dates โ€” if we can’t verify it, you’ll read “we couldn’t confirm this” rather than a confident guess.

Money and independence

Manufacturers and retailers don’t pay for coverage, and they can’t influence our conclusions. Inclusion on ItsReleased is never for sale.

On revenue, here’s the plain version: at the time of writing, this site earns no affiliate commissions and carries no paid placements. The product links in our articles are ordinary links. If that ever changes โ€” if we join an affiliate program or accept sponsored content โ€” it will be disclosed clearly on the affected pages and in this policy, before a cent is earned. And it still won’t change what we cover or what we conclude. Our assessments are not for sale at any price.

The sponsored and verdict firewall

We offer brands paid, sponsored packages โ€” listed on our For Brands page โ€” and we also publish verdicts. Those two activities are kept apart by a written firewall: payment can buy clearly labelled placement, and it cannot buy or change a verdict, a score, or a comparison result. Sponsored launch coverage carries a “Sponsored” banner at the top of the page and no verdict rating. The full policy โ€” what money can buy, how sponsored content is labelled, the current affiliate position, and what a brand can do if it disagrees with a verdict โ€” is on our Sponsored & Verdict Firewall page.

Images

Product imagery on ItsReleased is created by our own team and is illustrative โ€” it represents the product’s category and design rather than being an official manufacturer photograph, unless the image is credited otherwise.

Keeping articles current

Launch articles are living documents. Prices move, manufacturers revise specifications, and availability shifts โ€” when that happens, we update the article. Significant changes are reviewed before going live; they’re never applied silently at scale.

Questions about how we work

Do brands pay for coverage on ItsReleased?

No. Coverage can’t be bought, and advertisers โ€” we don’t currently have any โ€” get no say in editorial decisions.

Where do your prices come from?

From two to four reputable Australian retailers, checked before each article is published. We name no single “official” price because street prices vary; we report the range we verified.

Why do some articles say a price or date is unconfirmed?

Because it is. We’d rather tell you plainly that something isn’t confirmed than publish a guess that looks authoritative.
