DJI Romo 2: DJI’s drone smarts come to the floor at $2,899

The DJI Romo 2 is the robot vacuum from the company that taught drones to see โ€” and it shows. The dji romo 2 arrives in Australia at a $2,899 RRP with millimetre-level obstacle sensing, 36,000Pa of suction, a robotic arm that reaches where other robots can’t, and one of the quietest mopping systems in the category.

DJI’s second-generation robot vacuum-mop โ€” sold as the ROMO range, with the flagship ROMO P2 (the water-tank version) and the ROMO A2 โ€” is a serious attempt to transfer DJI’s obstacle-avoidance expertise from the air to the floor. Whether it’s enough to justify $2,899 against Roborock, Dreame and Mova is the real question.

DJI Romo 2: what’s new

The signature feature is the robotic arm. It swings through 123ยฐ and reaches 7.8cm wider than the cleaning path, and DJI says the dji romo 2 mops 4.5cm further under furniture than the original Romo could manage. It’s a different philosophy to the extendable-arm arms race at Dreame and Mova, but the goal is identical: clean the edges everyone else leaves dirty.

Obstacle sensing is where DJI’s heritage shows. The sensor system works at millimetre level and can detect objects as thin as 2mm โ€” including transparent hazards like glass and mirrors that regularly defeat cheaper robots. AI distinguishes between dry debris and liquid spills, automatically adjusting the cleaning mode and boosting suction on carpet. Robotic legs cross single steps up to 5cm and double steps up to 8.5cm.

And then there’s the noise claim: mopping noise drops as low as 38dBA, which DJI describes as up to 85% noise energy reduction. If true in practice, this is a robot you could run while people are watching TV in the next room โ€” or asleep.

DJI Romo 2 Australia price and availability

The flagship DJI Romo 2 P2 carries an Australian RRP of $2,899. DJI ran a launch early-bird offer from 9 to 30 September that took it down to $2,399 โ€” a $500 saving โ€” but that promotion has now ended, so expect to pay full RRP unless a new sale appears.

The dji romo 2 is on sale in Australia through the DJI online store at the $2,899 RRP โ€” DJI direct is the live buying channel. JB Hi-Fi lists the P2 at $2,399 but shows it as unavailable, so don’t plan around that price; DJI’s own store promotions come and go, so check the DJI store before buying.

Our verdict

Too early to tell โ€” we haven’t tested the DJI Romo 2. On paper, it’s a distinctive proposition: no other robot vacuum pairs 36,000Pa suction with millimetre-level obstacle sensing and a 38dBA mopping mode, and DJI’s software polish in other product categories is well established.

The honest reservations: $2,899 is flagship money, and the flagship tier is crowded with machines that match or beat the Romo 2 on individual specs. The 365-day maintenance-free claim for the base station is also a manufacturer claim we can’t verify without long-term testing. If obstacle avoidance and quiet operation are your priorities, the dji romo 2 is one of the most interesting robots of 2026. If raw suction is the priority, Mova and Dreame quote bigger numbers.

DJI Romo 2 specs: the numbers that matter

  • Suction: 36,000Pa, with intelligent carpet boost
  • Robotic arm: 123ยฐ swing, 7.8cm wider than the cleaning path, mops 4.5cm further under furniture than the original Romo
  • Obstacle sensing: millimetre-level; detects objects as thin as 2mm, including glass and mirrors
  • Step climbing: single steps up to 5cm, double steps up to 8.5cm
  • Mopping noise: as low as 38dBA
  • Base station: self-cleaning with four high-pressure water jets; DJI claims up to 365 days of maintenance-free operation
  • Charging: 55W fast charging โ€” full charge in around 2.5 hours
  • Models: ROMO A2 and the translucent-design ROMO P2

The spec that stands out isn’t suction โ€” 36,000Pa is strong but not category-leading. It’s the sensing. Detecting 2mm cables and transparent glass is the kind of thing that decides whether a robot vacuum actually runs unattended or gets stuck twice a week.

The robotic arm and spill detection

The dji romo 2’s 123ยฐ arm extends the cleaning path by 7.8cm, which matters most around table legs, chair bases and along walls โ€” the places twin fixed brushes leave a halo of dust. Under furniture, the extra 4.5cm of mop reach compared with the original Romo is a meaningful, measurable improvement rather than a percentage claim.

The spill intelligence is the smarter trick. The AI distinguishes dry debris from liquid spills and changes mode accordingly โ€” boosting suction on carpet, and treating a spill as a mopping job rather than vacuuming liquid into the dust path. That’s a genuinely useful distinction that most robots simply don’t make.

The base station and privacy

The DJI Romo 2’s base station self-cleans with four high-pressure water jets, and DJI claims up to 365 days of maintenance-free operation. That’s the boldest claim in the category โ€” treat it as a manufacturer claim, not a tested fact, but even half that figure would be welcome.

Privacy deserves its own mention because DJI has clearly thought about it: Local Data Mode lets you disconnect the DJI Home app from the internet entirely, and the camera and microphone can be disabled. For a camera-equipped robot that maps your home in detail, an offline mode is more than a nice-to-have โ€” for some buyers it’s the deciding feature.

Fast charging at 55W โ€” a full charge in around 2.5 hours โ€” rounds out a dock-and-power package that’s quietly among the best in class. See our Best Robot Vacuums Australia 2026 guide for how it stacks up.

Who should buy the DJI Romo 2

The DJI Romo 2 makes sense for you if:

  • Your home is full of cables, glass doors and clutter that defeats ordinary obstacle avoidance
  • Quiet operation matters โ€” 38dBA mopping is in a class of its own
  • Privacy controls matter โ€” Local Data Mode runs the app fully offline

It’s less compelling if you want the biggest suction number (the Mova V70 Ultra Complete and Dreame X60 Ultra Extreme both quote 42,000Pa at $3,299) or the longest dock between services from a proven brand. And if $2,899 stings, the Roborock Qrevo Edge 3 Pro at $2,799 is the obvious alternative.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the DJI Romo 2 in Australia?

The flagship ROMO P2 has a $2,899 Australian RRP. DJI’s launch early-bird price of $2,399 ran from 9 to 30 September and has ended. DJI’s online store is the live buying channel at the $2,899 RRP โ€” JB Hi-Fi lists the P2 at $2,399 but shows it as unavailable โ€” so plan around the $2,899 RRP and check the DJI store before buying.

What’s the difference between the DJI Romo 2 P2 and A2?

Two models exist: the ROMO A2 and the translucent-design ROMO P2. The P2 is the flagship water-tank version carrying the $2,899 RRP quoted in this article.

How quiet is the DJI Romo 2?

DJI quotes mopping noise as low as 38dBA โ€” an up to 85% reduction in noise energy compared with typical robot mopping. That makes it one of the quietest robot vacuum-mops in the category.

Can the DJI Romo 2 work without an internet connection?

Yes. Local Data Mode lets the DJI Home app run completely disconnected from the internet, and the camera and microphone can be disabled โ€” a privacy feature few rivals offer.
